In ihrer Arbeit geht es vordergründig um die Herstellung ultradünner Metallschichten. Zusätzlich haben sie auch etwas Klima-Wissenschaftskommunikation eingebaut:
Abbildung 11 in der Arbeit zeigt eine Elektronenmikroskop-Aufnahme des wohl kleinsten #Klima-Diagramms.
Dargestellt ist die jährliche mittlere Lufttemperatur von Deutschland, nach Daten des @DeutscherWetterdienst .
Jeder Balken in diesem Diagramm ist gerade einmal einen halben Mikrometer breit.
Zum Vergleich: Ein menschliches Haar ist etwa 70 bis 100 µm dick.
Quer darüber gelegt, würde das Haar das Diagramm komplett verdecken.
