“As an initial response, Eby said he has directed the #BC Liquor Distribution Branch to immediately stop purchasing American liquor from Republican-led "red states" and remove the top-selling brands from public liquor store shelves. “

2/ “He also directed the B.C. government and Crown corporations to prioritize Canadian goods and services in procurement decisions.

"The Americans are bigger, but if we don't stand up for ourselves, they will just keep coming back for more," he said.”
3/ “He also hinted at an export ban on critical minerals manufactured in the province. Metallic minerals and metallurgical coal, taken together, are B.C.'s largest source of export value, according to B.C. Stats.”
4/ “An estimated 54% of B.C.'s exports go to the U.S., according to provincial figures, making it British Columbia's biggest trading partner. About 14 per cent of B.C.'s exports go to China, 11 per cent to Japan and 10% go to other jurisdictions in Asia.

The analysis projected the tariffs would also result in 124,000 fewer jobs in B.C. over the next three years, causing the unemployment rate to increase to 6.7% in 2025, and 7.1% in 2026”
5/ Hey Felon #Trump, you lying POS:

“Trump made specific mention of British Columbia and its role in the "heightened domestic production of fentanyl".

Figures from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) show the agency seized 19.5 kilograms of fentanyl at the Canadian border last year, compared to a whopping 9,592 kilograms at the Mexican one.”
Two tenths of one percent coming across the Canadian border, compared to what comes across the border with Mexico? Donny Trump was never good at math: his degree in economics is from Penn.
he wants us to become a US state. F him and everyone who voted for him
Trump is picking on BC because they have critical minerals like germanium that they will not sell to US tech bros.
Trump is also catering to his fossil fuel industry donors.

BC refuses to re-open coal mining in a critical environmental habitat in the Rockies, like Alberta has.

Making enemies of arguably our ONLY close ally. Good job.
Weird there's no mention of Purdue Pharma or the Sackler family.

Also even a simple Google/DeepSeek doesn't show Canada being involved to any significant level:

"The largest purchasers of fentanyl in the USA are typically hospitals, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical distributors".

Drug trafficking organizations "often smuggle illicit fentanyl into the U.S. from other countries, such as China and Mexico".

We all know it's not about fentanyl, KingT.
I think that job loss figure is "dumb". If we don't sell those minerals to the USA, there are other markets, and those markets will replace the USA for MOST of the material. At most, my armchair econommist guess would be 50% of that figure.
Oh teh no! How dare he politicize Trump’s tariffs! :AngeryCat:

Also, I think China should clap an export tax on MAGA hats. Or they could just talk about how the prices are gonna go up for… wanna guess where they’re made?
