Last photo from today.

Walking down the ever dodgy steps at the back of the Wellgate Centre, Dundee, I happened to glance back.

New street art since the last time I was there! I believe this is by Pamie Bennett. Murals first started appearing here about 4 years ago, by a community group working on a project called Positive Challenges, inspiring, cheerful bit of street art popped up at the steps. I didn't get any photos of the rest of it.

Anyone that knows Dundee, knows how dismal the Wellgate Shopping Centre is (although it does have some good things going on - like a thriving library and a lot of small community support shops and services), the stairs out the back are bleak though, so I love this art decorating the space.

Dundee has a lot of talented folk. I am looking at the positives of the city here 😉

Concrete steps with the edges painted yellow, metal handrails at various points on the steps. What appears to be a random wall in the middle of the steps is actually used as a massive planter, steps continue at either side of it.
The wall is covered in street art. The entire section of wall has a blue background, a large horseshoe is painted in white, yellow and pink. Yellow and black droplets surround the horseshoe. The words good luck are in the middle of the horseshoe.
Buildings and blue sky can be seen beyond the back of the steps.

A random sculpture hidden between two benches in the centre of Dundee.

There are lots of random small sculptures to be found in the city centre. They are part of a public art project called Lost and Found by Jeremy Cunningham. There is no sculpture trail map for this and they are not all obvious, all the times I have sat on these benches, and today was the first time I noticed this!

A small metal sculpture of a violin with a watch lying on it. The sculpture is on a paving slab and the metal feet of benches are on either side of the violin.

The way the light caught the McManus Galleries in Dundee today made me smile.
I couldn't get the photo I wanted due to other humans being out and about, how very dare they 😉

The McManus Galleries building in Dundee. A stone built Victorian Gothic style building.
A winding staircase with arches underneath it leads to the first floor of the building. The building has large arched windows on ground and first floor. The stairs, external stair landing and around the roof of the building has a decorative balustrade, again made of stone with pillars and small arches. An ornate grey spire sits in the middle of the roof.
There is lush green grass and a small hedge in front of the building, the sky is a lovely pale blue.
In the photo, the ground floor and the grass are in the shade cast from buildings nearby, the first floor of the McManus and roof are lit by the sun.
