Scepticism and anticipation among Palestinians gathered near Ofer Prison | Charles Stratford (Reporting near Ofer prison, occupied West Bank)

[There are] hundreds if not thousands of people who have gathered on a hill overlooking the Ofer Prison in expectation of these 39 women and minors that are going to be – in theory – brought here by the Israelis on buses.
We’ve seen at least one bus leave one of those jails in northern Israel a few hours ago.

People have begun to light bonfires here, very excited about this prisoner-captive swap.

But there are so many questions that remain unanswered.

There are, as you can imagine, years of distrust [and] mistreatment at the hands of the Israeli military here in the occupied territories, so people are still sceptical as to whether this [release] could happen.

At least 320 foreign nationals and dependents, 100 Egyptians, and 262 Jordanians were evacuated from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing today, Reuters reported, citing an Egyptian security source and Jordan’s foreign ministry.

However, only four injured Gazans were allowed through the crossing into Egypt, according to a medical source.

Evacuations through the Rafah crossing resumed on Monday after it was closed on Saturday and Sunday following an Israeli strike on an ambulance in Gaza.
