The big blue dot is where 1.3 m people displaced by war are concentrated, having been bombed out…by the junta over the past 4 years. It's also just north of the earthquake's epicentre, & is where the damage will likely be severe & widespread. …disasters are converging…what'll go underreported, no doubt (and to the detriment of the recovery operation), is how mutual aid networks are now going to do so much of the heavy lifting, literal & figurative, given the total absence of a functioning, beneficent state. The same junta now calling for international assistance is the one that maintains blockades on critical aid to war-displaced communities all over the country, that repurposes hospitals as military bases, that is engineering famine in Myanmar's west, & that (among many acts of cruelty) horded oxygen supplies during Covid-19 in order to weaken anti-military mobilising. In light of all that (& because Trump's USAID shutdown means that some of the world's best rapid-response teams can't deploy to Myanmar… here are links to donation pages for networks with people…on the ground:

So here's the deal.
If the ground starts shaking, the second you realize it's an #earthquake, say "Earthquake!"
Sounds dumb but there's a few moments or more, depending, of confusion, denial, realization.. time wasted. But hearing the word, cuts that time so you can act.
If you're the one who said it, you probably know what to do, so do it AND say it. "Get down, cover your head, under the table, hang on", etc.
Authoritative voice = less panic, even for yourself
