"We are engaged with several federal agencies and are doing all we can to be responsive to their legitimate concerns and to take corrective action, under the law, to restore funding."

Columbia President Katrina Armstrong

It's all about the money. No surprise there.

When agents arrived to arrest Mahmoud Khalil they threatened to also arrest his 8-month's pregnant wife for standing up for his rights.

Mahmoud was told by cops that his "student visa was revoked" but he doesn't need a visa because he is a green card holder.

US education politics: ICE arrests Palestinian activist who helped lead Columbia University protests, his lawyer says

As a Jew, I cannot overstate how ashamed I am that organizations that aren't just led by Jews but entirely dedicated to protecting the safety of Jews and vulnerable groups are calling on ICE, the most violent and repressive arm of Trump's fascist regime, to target Palestinian students and call for their deportation.

Every time we think they cannot get lower, they manage to prove us wrong.

Statement by the ADL saying "We firmly believe there should be swift and severe consequences for those who provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations, incite violence in support of terrorist activities, or conceal their identities in order to harass and intimidate Jewish individuals and institutions with impunity. We appreciate the Trump Administration's broad, bold set of efforts to counter campus antisemitismand this action further illustrates that resolve by holding alleged perpetrators responsible for their actions. Obviously, any deportation action or revocation of a Green Card or visa protections. We also hope that this action serves as a deterrent to others who might consider breaking the law on college campuses or anywhere"

NYC #Protest called for tomorrow (March 10) at 4 p.m. to demand the release of #MahmoudKhalil, the #Columbia University student and activist for #Palestine detained by #ICE (as a green card holder). At the Javits Building.

So, this case is potentially a BIG DEAL! If the #WhiteHouse is calling for arrest of LEGAL students and protestors, that's a violation of a LOT of laws!

#ICE arrests #PalestinianActivist who helped lead #ColumbiaUniversity #protests, his lawyer says

NEW YORK (AP) — "Federal immigration authorities arrested a #Palestinian graduate student who played a prominent role in protests against #Israel at Columbia University, according to his attorney.

"#MahmoudKhalil was inside a university-owned residence Saturday night near Columbia’s Manhattan campus when several Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents entered his apartment and took him into custody, his attorney, Amy Greer, told The Associated Press.

"Greer said she spoke by phone with one of the ICE agents during the arrest, who said they were acting on #StateDepartment orders to revoke Khalil’s student visa. Informed by the attorney that Khalil was in the United States as a permanent resident with a green card, the agent said they were revoking that too, according to the lawyer.

"The arrest appeared to be among the first known actions under President Donald #Trump’s pledge to deport international students who joined the protests against the war in Gaza that swept college campuses last spring. His administration has claimed participants forfeited their rights to remain in the country by supporting Hamas, a terror organization.

"When ICE agents arrived at the campus building Saturday, they also threatened to arrest Khalil’s wife, an #AmericanCitizen who is eight months pregnant, Greer said. The authorities declined to say why Khalil was being arrested, according to the attorney."
