Years ago @ayoub and others warned us that Assad's Syria was the future, where rebellion was met with massacres and obliteration. #Gaza is the current iteration of this policy of death and destruction for the sake of it. The display of power and the total destruction of anything that stands against the current regime is all there is, and the more death and destruction that is dealt, the more powerful the regime believes itself to be.
As Trump and his oligarch cronies will face increasing opposition, I fear that this form of #necropolitics also will be their policy. Not at first, but eventually, as the collapse of liberal democracy rushes forward.
