While it may be true that some mothers are a risk to their children, currently it would seem the view of that risk is much too widely scoped in urgent care procedures run by some councils.... the stories in this article on the face of it seem inhuman, but equally difficult to assess marginal care cases (i.e. the ones where the risk appears just sufficient for an intervention) are always going to be problematic.

There are no easy answers here.
