Trying to determine if Admetus and Alcestis is too well-known a story to include in my Forgotten Myths book... 🤔

#mythology
T.S.Eliot based "The Cocktail Party" on Alcestis.

But "The Cocktail Party" is sort of a forgotten play, so....
That's interesting. How do you do that?
Mostly by polling a bunch of people on social media? :D
if myths are known they can't be forgotten right? 🤔 i would say add them :>
A question as old as time itself — "How many people have to forget something before you can call it 'forgotten' "?
I’d forgotten it almost entirely (except the names were vaguely familiar) and had to go look it up to remind myself, fwiw, and I remember many of the old myths at least in general terms
I would say many myths from Antiquity are not as known nowadays as they used to be. If you compare it to, lets say, the labours of Hercules, or Jason and the Argonauts, or the Trojan War, Admetus and Alcestis can easily be counted as a forgotten myth.
I really recognize the name Alcestis. Someone must use it. I have certainly forgotten Admetus, so you must use it!
