There should be a provision about number of years a book has to continuously live with you after which it becomes legally yours. Because some of these tomes have practically merged with my shelf by now.

On the other hand, I love my library and do not want it to be diminished in the slightest!

I mean, if there was someone on a wait list, I'd give them back. But I agree, if no one but you checks them out for a decade... 🤷‍♀️ I can't tell how many times the library had to cut the pages on a book or add the barcode because no one had ever checked it out before me :D
