Question: At what point in time did the American news consumer stop wanting news and starred wanting opions based on the news?

I ask this because many times I see a straight news article describing an event and it gets ripped apart for not taking a stand for one political stance or the other. And this seems closly tied to the death of traditional media and the rise of newsletters like substack which are often opinion since the writers lack the resources to do news
