Day 8. It can be just a coincidence, but I put the plant that germinated first more far from the LED lamp. It still couldn't fully break the seed skin. The one closest to the lamp has the biggest leaves, and the one in the middle the second biggest. I've moved the one struggling to break the seed skin closer to the lamp.
It can be just coincidence, but this cheap €20 euros LED lamp you find online possibly works. I have to take into account that the different growth can be related to the strain.

Day 12. Just one seedling is doing well. Mimosa is the best at the moment. Unfortunately, amnesia haze bended too much, so I had to add a stick to hold her. I think I've over watered her. Gelato is still alive with slowly growing leaves, but I can't believe it will survive due to its very thin stem. I tried to add some plastic bag to moist the resistant seed skin, and possibly I broke the stem.
I've ordered one more seed. The other two gelato seeds I had were thrown out by mistake. If the Amnesia Haze dies, I'll need another seed.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: day 13
Day 13. Unfortunately, just one seedling is doing well. One likely has damping off due over watering. The other couldn't break the seed skin and possibly I hurt its stem when trying to create a moist environment. She still grows some leaves, but very slowly. It's likely gonna die.
The autoflowering mimosa vs orange punch is doing well.
I have one seed of cookies kush already in the paper towel after soaking it under water. I hope this will help the seedling to break the seed skin more easily. And I want to plant in a few days a gorilla blue auto.
I won't use just coco coir next time. I'll use a substrate with a mix of soil for herbs, coco coir and perlite. When I grew 3 seeds in simple herbal soil, all seedlings achieved the vegetative stage
Here's a good text about #cannabis seedlings I read:

Day 14. As expected, the two suffering seedlings died. I'll try what already worked out with some small adjustments:
1. I soaked the new seed in water for 20 h before adding it to a damp paper towel. 2. I'm using organic soil (70%) with some washed coco fiber (15%) and an analogous to perlite (15%). 3. A paper pot instead of the coconut one.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: 8 and 2 days old
I had to start 3 new seeds. The experiment with coco coir failed and all seedlings died.
Using a mix of 70% of soil, 15% of coco coir and 15% of a granulat similar to perlite, the bigger seedling seems to be *much* healthier (7 days old). The other two seedlings are just 2 days old, but they already have roots going out of the initial pots. One seed I put directly in the soil and the other I used a damp paper towel.
All the three seeds soaked in water, so no seed skin holding the seeding this time.
While it's not so hot, I'm putting the older seedling in a window to the west, in the afternoon. In the morning, in the east.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: 12 and 6 days old
The two first seedlings, auto, 6 days old, and the last one, photo, 12 days old. They are growing up much better than the coco fibers experiment. All stems seem bold this time. The auto ones have a thicker stem. 🥦
The bigger one I'm moving in the afternoon to a window to the west, while it's not so warm. They wake up in a window to the east.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: 17 and 11 days old
The seedlings seem to be growing well for a windowsill. The more mature one I continue moving to the west window in the afternoon and I already gave her some direct sunlight. She has already 8 leaves in development.
The two automatic ones have 4 leaves, the one I planted directly has bigger new leaves. Both have roots trying to go out at the bottom of the cardboard pots.
I need to travel in two weeks. Would it be too precipitated to transplant them this weekend to self watering pots? Since the water comes from the bottom, I hope they can grow 5-6 cm before I travel. I also intend not to remove the pots, just make holes, humidify and cover them totally, removing just the upper part around the soil. Bad idea?
Today on Seeds, Soil & Sun: How to Grow Cannabis we learn how to transplant seedlings, our next step in the journey of growing cannabis. Full Series: https:...
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: 18 and 12 days old
All three seedlings transplanted. I hope it was not a bad idea to keep the original biodegradable cardboard pots. I umidified, made holes and buried all of them, cutting out the part above the soil.
The new substrate is around 60% soil, 12% worm cast, 15% granulat and 13% coco fiber.
Now they have 2 weeks to develop roots for the self watering system to work. Let's see how they react to their new homes! 🥦😃
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: 25 and 19 days old
The three girls look fine and already have some nice scents. 😋 The first 3 photos were taken now, the last one 2 days after the transplant. I've added a bit too much water on this one, so the leaves got droop.
My mistake was to irritate from the top and also add some water at the bottom with the self watering system. I didn't give water for two days and she looks better now, but maybe this delayed her growth a bit.
Today I've added growth and calcium+magnesium fertilizers for the first time, just half of the recommended. I started trying to use the self watering system again, because before, after overwatering after the transplant, I was adding just a little from the top.
Let's see how they will react in the next few days! I'm traveling in one week for a couple of days and again at the end of the month, so I hope the self watering system will work.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: 27 and 21 days old
Just a quick update, but I took a look at the bottom of my self watering pots, and all of them have some tiny roots going out! I'm surprised by how fast they grew and not only in the center.
I travel in 5 days, so I think the strategy of transplanting directly with the cardboard pots worked. I just hope the roots will develop healthly throughout the cardboard walls, but this I can check just in a few months. 😉
The water in each pot reduces 30 to 45 ml per day, and the water reservoir supports around 300 ml, so I think I'm safe to travel for 7 to 10 days.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 3 and 4
For more than one week, I've been just watering the #cannabis from the bottom and they look well. I've already added some growth and Calcium+Magnesium fertilizers with half of the recommendation.
I hope during this growth the fertilizers won't get the wicks stuck. Maybe I should wash and remove the roots that can accumulate around them at least once a month - it's a bit tricky to do that, because I have access just to the hanging part.
One interesting thing about these three plants: two of them already have some smell, but the one that seems to be growing faster doesn't have any smell. The two that smell are growing mostly on a windowsill to the east with a simple LED lamp, the other one to the west, so it takes more sunlight in the afternoons. I'm also providing direct sunlight in the balcony for a couple of hours for all of them.
Let's see what they will look like when I come back in 4 to 5 days! 🥦😃
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 4 and 5
The self watering pot worked like a charm! All plants looked nice after 4 days and a couple of hours away. I'm traveling again for almost one week, but now I can be tranquil in relation to the watering.
Today I've added for the first time the full recommend amount of growth and calcium+magnesium fertilizers. I'll keep like that in the following weeks.
I hope they can develop more in the vegetative stage. The autoflowering plant that doesn't have any smell, the one to the west, has started blooming some stigmas. More details here https://social.vivaldi.net/@everton137/112497009001615854
The autoflowering plants are already taller than the photoperiodic one, 17 cm and 14 cm, respectively, although they are one week younger. My plan is to move the photoperiodic one to the balcony when nights get warmer and the auto ones really start blooming, so I can use the LED light for both in the next phase.
Let's see how much they will be able to produce in the next weeks!
P. S. In my previous post, I counted the number of weeks wrongly, it was 3 and 4.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 5 and 6
After 6 days of traveling, the plants exploded their size! The autoflowering ones went from 20 to 38-40 cm. The photoperiodic one from 14 to 22 cm. The auto ones have several flowers in their initial stage, the most developed one around 12. 🤩🥦
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 5 and 6
I have moved the photoperiodic #cannabis, cookies kush, to the balcony. Soon I'll transplant it to a bigger self watering pot, from 3 liters to 11 liters.
I hope it can resist the cold nights the next few days, with a minimum ranging from 9 to 13 Celsius. During the days, it's ranging from 19 to 24 Celsius.
The autoflowering ones, gorilla glue auto, will continue on the windowsill and I want to keep using this smaller pot.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 7 and 8
I don't know how much these three cannabis plants will produce, but at least the autoflowering ones are higher than expected. I read some online guides saying that a 3 liter pot can reach just 24 to 40 cm, but my plants are already 54 and 52 cm - although they are not that bushy.
The photoperiodic cannabis in the balcony is 30 cm and I expect she can grow more after I transplant to a 11 liter pot - also self watering, but with a reservoir of 4 liters.
The reservoir of 250-300 ml of my actual pots are already small for the autoflowering plant sitting on an outside windowsill when we have a sunny day. I'll keep this small pot until the end because that's what fits on my windowsill.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 9 and 10
Today the autoflowering ones enter their 9th week and the photoperiod one on the 10th.
The flowers are still growing, especially on the flower on an external windowsill to the west. The one to the east has fewer and smaller flowers, but is also growing. The western one uses a lot more water, about 350 ml on a sunny day. The eastern one has an LED light with blue and red lights that I leave on for 12 hours after midday.
And the photoperiod one looks better a few days after transplanting it into the larger pot.
On the 10th week of the autoflowering cannabis, the trichromes are still transparent. This amplified photo was taken one week ago. In the next post I update how the plants look like this week.
Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis growth experiment: weeks 11 and 12
Not much to update. The flowers are growing slowly, mainly the ones of the plant on the windowsill to the west. Maybe there's around 4 grams when dry? Both autoflowering ones have around 56 cm in a just 3 liter pot.
The photoperiod cannabis is already almost 70 cm tall. It was 39 cm when I transplanted from a 3 to 11 liter pot and she looks happier now. At the next week I'll try to put her inside my house to be in the dark from 23h to 8h. Let's see if this can trigger the blooming.
A side-by-side comparison of two cannabis plants of the same strain, gorilla glue auto, one growing on a balcony to the east and the other to the west on a windowsill.
Guess which one has grown better with more flowers. The one with fewer flowers has an additional simple LED light.
After inspecting the smaller cannabis with a microscope and seeing several trichomes with orange heads, I decided to harvest most flowers. Also because I saw some beginning of powdery mildew or mold.
I don't know if I harvested correctly, but I cut all leafs without trichomes using a glove to hold the bud. And with tweezers, I removed some small insects in the buds. I dipped them on a solution with some sodium bicarbonate and lemon juice and now they are drying.
I'm impressed by the total weight for a plant growing east on a windowsill and balcony on a 3 liter pot: 29.5 grams. And that's just the smaller plant, I suppose the other can reach around 50 grams. What will be the total weight after drying? Around 10 grams?
I know people growing on pots 3 to 4 times bigger and they reached at most 7 grams after drying, but just using water, so likely using fertilizers had some effect.
I'm satisfied and I'm sure the plant doesn't have any harmful chemicals other than the exciting one. That was the first round. 😌
The 29.5 grams of wet flowers ended up with 7.3 grams after drying. Most of it (c. 6 g) was used to make cannabutter and infused olive oil. The rest is curing.
The cannabutter became now brisadeiro (a word play with the Brazilian sweet 'brigadeiro') and magic beijinho (little kiss).😋 I also want to make some hard candies and caramel candies.
After buying a proper magnifying glass (60x), which is much better than the microscope, I realized I harvested too early. But after trying some on toast, I had no idea the potency was so high and the bigger one is still growing west. 🙈
And the photoperiod update: it has reached 1 meter in height! This is a location that only gets direct sunlight in the morning in the east. Let's see if it makes it through the fall in Berlin. I wish it would start flowering soon!
At the beginning of August, I finally harvested the biggest autoflowering cannabis growing west.
Haven't I lost almost half for powdery mildew and after for mold, I could have gotten more than 25 grams in such a small 3 liter pot! I ended up with ~14 grams. I'm impressed, since it was my first time growing and I just used sunlight in such small pot. That's more than enough for me.
We're in the fourth week of the flowering phase and the flowers are still growing. The plant has stopped growing in size, about 120 cm. Some of the leaves are turning yellow and falling off, I think because it's concentrating its energy on the flowers. Or could there be something wrong?
I'll be away in September for about three weeks and I'll explain the scheduled fertilizers to my partner while I'm away. I'm curious what the plant will look like when I get back!
I just noticed I have 420 followers, so I decided to share a video of my plant. 💚 Unfortunately, I cannot travel due to an ankle sprain in the last few days, so I'll follow the development of my plant during the whole of September.
Those are some photos to give an idea on its size after almost half a year. It reached circa 120 cm. In the last few days, I've put it on the floor of the balcony, because the smell was too intense and I think it could bring too much attention from a curious passer-by.
After almost 3 hours harvesting and cleaning in a solution with peroxide to remove some powdery mildew, there were almost 480 grams of fresh buds, including the stems and I didn't trim perfectly.
I was pretty tired after a full work day plus the harvesting, trimming and cleaning! If I didn't lose any bud for mold, that would be close to the allowed limit.
And, yes, a few buds began to form some mold, like the main cola. I didn't have the proper conditions for drying them, so I decided to take a good quantity to make an infusion in MCT oil. It was around 44 grams of decarbed buds for half a liter of oil. I think it's quite potent. 😄
Finally, a general and quick assessment on the outcomes of my first legal growth of cannabis, in Germany: - the first 2 autoflowering plants produced 22 grams of dry cannabis (using small 3 liters pot and losing 13 grams to powdery mildew and mold) - with these flowers, I've made 85 grams of cannabutter (5.5 grams of cannabis) and 50 ml of infused olive oil (1 gram) - I also made 180 ml of infusion in alcohol (I think around 8 grams) - almost half a kilo of wet cannabis on a photoperiod growing east - when I saw some big buds forming mold, I decarbed 44 grams and made 430 ml of infused MCT oil - there's still some buds drying, let's see if mold will form.
Using just solar light, I consider it a huge success. I cannot consume all this for a looong time. I don't use that often, and I intend to continue like this. It was a cool experience with several learnings, maybe I'll write some article when I have time. I never bought illegal cannabis and I will continue like that.
I was very glad to know someone who had lots of local, outdoor grow experience to consult. They quickly passed on the fear of mold! We took lots of measured to maximize airflow at flowering and progressively harvested largest buds, but still lost ~2% to mold.
Now enjoying the daily curing ritual of opening all the jars :)

It was a cool experience with several learnings, maybe I'll write some article when I have time. I never bought illegal cannabis and I will continue like that.

Inhaltswarnung: Cannabis experiment: conclusions!
