Is there a possibility to block DMs for non-followers? I'm fed up with these spam waves via #DM. Couldn't find anything.
I say *block* not mute!

By block, do you mean something where the sender would not be able to send a DM to that person at all?

Yes, exactly this. Only followers could sent a DM.
Such a feature would kill a certain kind of spam accounts.

@Petra van Cronenburg Not as of now. As far as I know this is one of the crucial weaknesses still unaddressed in ActivityPub in general. 🙄

It's also repeated point of criticism because other open networks such as Friendica, Diaspora or Hubzilla basically do quite a bit better here and have done so for a while now. This seems one of these features for which it's rather hard to understand how they still can be missing, despite all technical difficulties in doing these right.

Friendica still lacks a proper moderation system unfortunately:
