Some of us protest in the streets. Others protest in less risky, but equally important ways. Some of us do it in all the ways.

It’s okay if you want to fight fascism but don’t want to confront people in the streets. You can still fight the good fight. And every action helps.

UK artist Wednesday Holmes shares a safe but effective path of resistance.

Colorful illustrations of flowers, creatures, starts, planets, and various shapes of equality. The title reads ‘everyone is telling me to organize.’ What can that look like and why is it important? By Wednesday Holmes.’ A larger body of text reads ‘Recently there has been an influx of people telling us to organize and show up in response to the rise of fascism. It’s brilliant advice but it can leave people confused as to what that actually means. When people think of organizing they think of protests in the streets, they think of marches.’
Colorful illustrations of equality symbols, flowers, ribbons, snails, and shapes near some copy that reads ‘Marches and protests are a way that we can organize ourselves to resist! But that’s only the beginning. There are lots of ways that we can contribute and get.’ Following is a diagram that shows a cloud of content that reads ‘here are some things that you can do as a community member to resist individualism and the destruction of community solidarity.’ Many curly arrows extend out of the cloud, each pointing to a statement. They read: ‘1. Create a local group where you can share ideas and create support for people who need help. 2. Create mutual aid fundraisers. 3. Stitch and bitch. 4. Radical reading clubs. 5. Make radical art. 6. Making radical zines together. 7. Radical theater. 8. Community gardening. 9. Hand out masks and COVID tests. 10. Music and poetry. 11. Radical community art exhibitions. 12. Get to know your neighbors. 13. Create free sanitary products and clothing pick-up points. 14. Community fridges. 15. Volunteer.’
This is so true, and is true even for armies in conventional wars.

For every soldier in the field, at least ten more people are doing the logistics that make the field work possible. For everyone of those, there are at least ten more supporters cheering them on.
