This thread is meant as a resource for confused #autistic people, on social dynamics & power hierarchies.

In the posts below are links to various threads & articles I've compiled on this topic.

Sometimes it's only when you add a number of elements (each one unremarkable on its own), that you see a pattern.

As an autistic person, it is my experience that we are aware of the struggle to determine dominance between others before they are aware of it themselves.
Yes. I think perhaps for them it is the air they breathe. They don't know there's any other alternative or way to be.

Whereas for autistics it perhaps comes less naturally, since we are simply less people oriented? 🤔

Far more autists are lateral thinkers, i.e. they carry a thought through to its natural conclusion/consequence. This makes them approach situations with caution - the opposite of domineering.

Hm but does following things through to a consequence or conclusion preclude being a lateral thinker?

Maybe it does! I find, with enough information, I can see the bigger picture... and spot connections between different areas and story lines.

Is that lateral thinking? 🤔

I think I need to digest this... 😂
Yes, that is lateral thinking.
So I guess the conclusion is that I am not one of the autistics who doesn't do lateral thinking.

Having said that,
According to Google lateral thinkers find creative solutions, critical thinkers are cautious. Wotevs. I prefer being both of those to being linear.
