Seems Trump is wallowing like a pig in mud, doubling down on what he by now knows are lies that 150yo and even 200yo people are claiming #SocialSecurity benefits.

Obvious hogwash to anyone over the age of 3, but there's also been lots of reportage exposing the fact that there are various explanations for these numbers, including the fact that no $ is being distributed to or on behalf of any such account.

Anyone with institutional knowledge of #SSA would know that.

Musk is looking at the wrong database: he's not looking at the database that gets sent to Treasury for payments. He's looking at Numident, which contains a record of every person who has ever been assigned a #SocialSecurity number. There are people in the system who have died, but don't have a date of death recorded because they lived long before electronic records were established.

When birthdates aren't known - which was common in the 1930s when Social Security began & can still sometimes be the case, the system automatically gave the year of birth as 1875, in accordance w/a standard known as ISO 8601, or Convention du Mètre, established in 1875

In addition to which, widows/widowers &/or disabled dependents of #SocialSecurity beneficiaries can continue to receive their deceased spouse or parent's benefits without any change to the name, social security number or date of birth of record (https://www.ssa.gov/faqs/en/questions/KA-02053.html).

It's all just common sense once you know the facts.

Problem is, Trump/Musk/#GOP all willfully operate fact-free.
