The Atlantic reported that members of the GSA team known as 18F were informed their roles had been “abolished as part of an agency reduction-in-force.” Among the team’s achievements was an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) program that allowed taxpayers to file directly with the agency for free instead of paying for filing software from Intuit TurboTax. 18F employees were also responsible for maintaining the government’s weather alerts and forecasts service.
