Israel bombs sewage pumping station in Gaza City

The municipal authority in the northern city is warning of a health and environmental disaster after Israeli forces bombed and damaged a sewage pumping station in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, according to local media.

The authority said the damage to the station has resulted in sewage levels rising in the streets of Gaza City.

Meanwhile in Windermere the struggle to get data collected by United Utilities on its sewage disposal into Windermere itself & surrounding rivers continues....

UU says it is committed to transparency, right up to the point when someone actually wants the data/information to reveal the damage UU is doing the Lake District water courses, then (they claim) its not in the public interest - a claim already dismissed by the Information Commissioner!

If OfWat is supposed to be securing the water supplies for consumers through its regulation of the sector, then its hard to square that with the impoverishment of said consumers.... but if course the consumers OfWat is concerned by are not the real consumers struggling to pay their bills but the theoretical consumers in their economic modelling....

Its just one more area of the UK's governance which is (once you get behind the guff) is inhumane!

Yesterday, a major march in London aimed to put more pressure on the Govt. to deal more quickly & more extensively with the crisis in England provided water sector.... will they respond with further action(s)?

I'm not holding my breath.... without the closure & reconfiguration of OfWat alongside re municipalisation of the water sector, resolution of the crisis looks unlikely, and its not clear Labour has an appetite for either!
