Former Scottish Labour MSP quits with furious attack on Keir Starmer
A FORMER Scottish Labour MSP has resigned from the party after 35 years following the UK Government’s swingeing cuts to disability benefits ...Xander Elliards (The National)
Genuinely having a tough time of it. House hunting is not going well, though we've 3 more viewings lined up for tomorrow.
The news about #pip is terrifying - PIP makes up about 33% of my income so losing it will be devastating, and there's not a lot I can do about it as my condition fluctuates. I'm having a really tough day during a really tough time, and I'm about ready to crawl into bed and not emerge again til it's all better.

Well, the point, it seems, is to be as not-Labour as possible, and that purpose was fashioned in a battle against those on the left of the party, rather than its desire to be the canny custodian of leftwing politics once in power. It is as simple as that"
Nesrine Malik spot on, once again. We on the left warned everyone...

I'll just remind you that PIP - where the eligibility criteria are proposed to be being tightened - is an IN WORK benefit, and that the fraud rate is 0%, according to the DWP's OWN FIGURES.
" ... tightening up on the eligibility criteria ... hasn’t always worked because in the end, there are often ways that you can game the system, ways of getting around it … "

“This lack of genuine debate around DWP cuts which could result in disabled people’s deaths is shocking, but no longer surprising from a Labour Party looking more like Reform every day”

“Just as Labour wants to cut it, some crucial figures about DWP PIP have been released”

“At a time when the govt is planning to freeze #DWP #PIP rates next year, as part of its [..] cruel cuts to welfare, the fact so many people get support for conditions which are not going to improve should ring alarm bells to politicians”

DWP PIP award lengths under scrutiny amid government cuts plan
Far from 'taking the mickey', the number of people with long-term DWP PIP awards is going up - reflecting the severity of impairmentsSteve Topple (The Canary)

Labour mollifies the rich, targets disabled people and claims moral justification. There isn’t any | Frances Ryan | The Guardian

BUT
#PIP is an out-of-work benefit. People recieve it to assist with day-to-day living. The matter of employment or not does not enter into it. Their justification for reducing PIP can only be to save the Treasury money
Also
38% of UC claimants are in work. Reducing their benefit can not be seen as motivation for employment because they are already working
