I was enjoying a coffee on my patio, watching the squirrels and crows eat cashews, when I noticed I'm getting a lot of ash fallout on me. I like to think some of this flaky white horror is the remains of my beloved Wattles Garden Park, and the sharp pieces I have already inhaled means it will always be a part of me.

I think I'm going to go in and shower.

On Wednesday evening, the Sunset Fire started in the Hollywood Hills less than 2 miles from us. It spread quickly and within minutes, LAFD had issued an evacuation order that ended a block from our apartment building, with the building placed in an evacuation warning.

Yesterday we evacuated my future mother-in-law from her home. The smoke was so thick from the #eatonfire and #palisadesfire that I could still smell it through my N95 (granted, my facial hair may have prevented a perfect seal).

If you have been affected by any #lafire, including these two, the #hurstfire, #sunsetfire, etc. please, for your health, wear a mask/respirator when you step outside.

Looks like evacuation orders have been lifted for the #SunsetFire and the #SunsweptFire was contained. No new threats here this morning. Some of the smoke we were getting from #EatonFire seemed to have thinned out when I was outside at dawn.

Thankfully the wind has died down, as well. So, maybe the crews can start getting control of some of the larger fires.

No further damage here. So, I'll be back at work and later we'll try to sort out getting someone out to do real repairs on things.
