As Storm Darragh passes and the UK reports wind speeds of 92mph, I'm reminded of the highest recorded wins speed in the UK.

This was at Saxavord in Unst, Shetland, a weather station attached to the RAF radar site. A storm on New Year's Day 1992 had gusts measured of 197mph. At which point the weather station was blown away.

Two people died in Unst in the storm.

(Today definitely feels like a day to stay indoors.)
