Jesus christ, the whole BE AFRAID OF CHINA thing is getting pretty desperate - everything from "we can't have EVs because China's spying" to "China's helping the Houthis". Talk about change the narrative from "stop looking at all the crimes we're committing right in front of your faces".

THEY ARE UNDER THE BED!!!
just not peking duck, because omg they'll KNOW.
They already know - they're in your car, your phone, your curtains, your soup, your socks ... just give in will you. You can't win. There is only one truth, and it's that we aren't the evil ones. You don't want to be sent for re-education, do you?
dammit i *knew* there was something in my socks.

how long away from that are we, d'you think? a year or two? if they can even be bothered with re-education. surely killing us is cheaper.
Not that long, I don't think. It's just a matter of finding a European version of El Salvador - Hungary? Slovakia? - who'll do a quid pro quo, maybe "you can go to Vlad's parade every year and stay in the EU if you give us somewhere to dump these pesky lefties/other undesirables, we don't really care what you do with them".
yeah. terrifyingly, i feel that you're probably right. fuck i mean a "european" version of el salvador might be the UK soon enough anyway.
I think it's more likely to be Hungary, or maybe Serbia. They're already at least 90% openly fash (we're at about 60% openly atm I'd say) and they've got more practice at disappearing people. They can just ship them off to a gulag or something. Britain's a bit small for stuff like that. You keep coming up against things like other countries' borders and the sea.
yeah i wasn't being entirely serious: not enough space and too much oversight and freedom of the press (for now). but yes the further east you go, the less easy to track people ...
Well there's plenty of stuff the press chooses not to look at, so with enough demonisation - which they've been practising on demonstrators for a long time now - it won't take much to get the RW rags to cheer it on. There's still that pesky ECHR to deal with though, which isn't such an issue in Hungary ...
well maybe not for long, anyway ...
