I don't remember that but isn't that basically how all AI ends up, because it's mostly glorified incels that end up programming it?

I have had this conversation with folk in tech who think we should use AI to transcribe conversations and save time and money. Google's voice assistant can't cope with my female Scottish accent half the time, and I went to school in England so I'm hardly broad Scots. Can you imagine it trying to deal with Doric?

It's the same conversation, generally speaking, as using Google to do translations. It's functional at best. Once you get to a certain kind or level of conversation/text, it just doesn't work.
It'd be the same with any broad accent - imagine deep Brummie or hardcore Cornish. I bet it doesn't even know Cornish or Breton exist.
I fuckin' hate tech.

Public services need to be accessible, and not use tech or systems that drive perverse behaviour. I'm 100% sure introducing AI would waste even more time, because it would transcribe inaccurately, and this would prove legally dubious, so calls would have to be recorded and the transcriptions checked for accuracy. Then there's all the GDPR and data retention consequences. Someone has sold this dude a false idea of how good AI is.

I'm sure we've talked about this before Sam, no? AI is only as good as the people who programme it and what they choose to feed into it. As they're almost always cishet white guys who think they're cleverer than most people, it doesn't bode well ...
