Thanks Mia.

A trip to the bookshop is in order.
It's worth it, but then I'm quite fond of his stuff in general. I'm just at the point where the national Maastrict referenda are taking place and I'd forgotten so much about it. He's pretty scathing about how badly the implementation of the Euro was handled, and how much political capital they burned on it.
If only my pending pile wasn't already a stability threat to the house....
Don't try to pretend this is a new thing, Chris 🤭
Ha ha, no, you're right; its a structural impediment with which I daily struggle....
"Structural impediment" 🤣
This place might interest you. I replaced a whole bunch of my lesser-consulted tomes the other day and now have (whisper it) *space on my bookshelves* 😱

https://standardebooks.org/
aha, interesting.... certainly Mrs May would be very keen for me to be using this service to clear the floors in some rooms.... will need to check it out; thanks
Oooft. Just got to the bit around mid-00s to 2010s 😬
Bit too much self-pity for some trouble he got into and a pretty poor attitude to how migrants were treated in the west post 9/11.
oooooh and wow..... and uh oh to my doing much else....
I downloaded *so* many. There's a surprisingly good selection.
I saw, several agatha christies I have not read in many years, stainless steel rat, dashiel hammet, and the first fantasy book by william morris.
A few collections of folk tales too 👍
but of course.... I am still flicking.
I've replaced a lot of the chunkier classics - Eliot, the Russians and others - that I want to have but am unlikely to actually read again 😂
good selection of the political stuff as well, Wollstonecraft, paine etc. Which can be handy for reference.

ALso all the E Nesbits...

And if you ever enjoyed Helen Hanffs, 84 Charing Cross Road, it has the Arthur Quiller-Couch lectures she was chasing.
Yep, I grabbed all that stuff. Lots of plays, philosophy and poetry too, as well as Greeks and Romans.
It's a really good site.
ummmm so far, not met any plays I didn't already have....

ooops.

As you enjoy folktales and stories etc, may I recommend James Branch Cabells Jurgen (his other books were decent but I read them 30+ years ago) . But Jurgen is the classic archytype heroes tale (done deliberately and with a sense of humpur).
I didn't have some of the Greeks, Ibsen, Strindberg or Sheridan. I picked up Shakespeare for ease of reference.
if the latter is News from Nowhere.... very thought provoking (especially nowadays)
Oooh, I picked that up! Where it'll come on the TBR is another matter ...
