There Will Be Slugs*

* in about 9 days
Nope. Never get slugs on my lettuce. Crushed eggshells around the border of the raised beds 👍
👍 good work
I love the natural world.

I struggle to love slugs.
I don't mind them. I just leave them to go about their business. Spiders, wasps and moths ... not so much.
(but only when they venture into the house, obvs)
was speaking to a scientist that researches wasps. They were saying it was nearly impossible to get funding for research as everyone hates wasps. Bee researchers get all the money instead!
I think a lot fewer people would hate them if they just fucked off out the window/door when you open it for them, rather than mooching about winding you up 😡 😁
🤣🤣
The grey squirrel sneaks into our veg bed and does some kind of digging. We have to wait and see what remains. I’m getting a wild cam today, so I can get the evidence! We also put some fine netting all around, and hope this might deter Dusty.
Our squirrels tend not to do that. The only thing you ned to worry about around here is the local cats whose owners don't keep them in at night sneaking in and pooing 😡
There’s nothing more disgusting, because of the diseases cats can carry, and the stench/mess 🤮. It’s why I wish cats were trained to runs or as housecats. That there is no punishment for the owners of cats, while there certainly is for the owners of dogs who do this is wrong.
The only thing worse is when they kill the birds. I found one ripped to bits on the lawn last week 😭
Cats, unlike UK passport holders, have the legal right to roam :)
They should not. that is my point. They should be controlled like everything and everyone else is. That they decimate our wildlife is another point on favour of controlling them.
Seconded. They're a pain in the arse. They're the responsibility of the owner at night as well as during the day.
You're going to raise the ire of # catsofmastodon :)

Of course as a responsible cat owner I have cat safe fences to keep my fur babies in our garden
Ah, see - you're off the hit list. It's the others who need a good talking to.
will the lettuce outlast Sir Keir Starmer ?
🤣
It's self-replicating, so yes 🥳
