Off the top of your head, think of all the epics you know.
(Traditional epics, for the sake of this exercise.)

Okay, now see how many of those have women as protagonists.

Epics about women do exist. I am currently on a binge, reading 26 of them in alphabetical order. I am only 4 epics in, and I just needed to share that it is already an incredible journey. 😊

Dr. Zalka Csenge Virág hat dies geteilt

There have been many books written about Gráinne Ní Mháille (Grace O'Malley), but I'm still waiting for an epic. Grace was an Irish historical figure, born about 1530 - she made her living at "maintenance by sea,' that is, she was a pirate. Her story is quite extraordinary.

Echoing the request for a list! I love to expand my reading horizons, as it were
I highly recommend anything by Elizabeth Moon. She writes epic fantasy and science fiction with women protagonists.
could you share your list so we can join in. This sounds awesome

Same feelings here !
I'll be sharing some tidbits on here as I go along :) Would it help to have a hashtag? #WomensEpics ?
Yay, thank you so much! And yes, I do find such hashtags super useful because they allow me to read up when I miss posts!
I’m reading The Broken Earth series by n k Jemisin and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Depending on the definition of "epic," I can think of three. They're little known works by an obscure American author, though.
I meant traditional epics, as in, mythology and folklore :)
