In advance before April's blog series on women's epics, I am curious if there are any that people know, or want to know about. :)

Do you know any epics about women? Name them in comments and I'll tell you if they will be included!

(And by "epic" I also mean sagas, shamanic songs, monogatari, and chivalric romances.)

Theodor Fontane: Effi Briest
Seems like that one is a novel
Isn't a novel an epic too?
In German "episch" means that it is not in rhymes.

then it's a translation issue :) Here I am talking specifically about traditional epics (think Gilgamesh, Odyssey, Mahabharata, that kind of stuff).
In German that's "Dichtung" (poetry).
The Korean shamanic chant of Princess Bari?
That's a good one! I didn't include it because I have worked with it before and I wanted to read new things. But it's an amazing story :)
Glad it's made the list before, it's quite something xD

Ding ding ding! :) Juliana will be included! :)
The Descent of Innana is the only one I know off the top of my head
I considered including that one. It could technically be considered an epic, I guess. In the end I didn't include it because I'm familiar with it, and I wanted to read stuff that was new to me too.
I consider it the Ur-epic from which all other epics descend. Funny how the epic became such a masculine genre.

Looking forward to learning about other epics about women in your series :)
