We should do it the Mexico City way, damn
IKR? They've got *a lot* to protest about there though.
The sooner we in calm cultures set things on fire, the less we will backslide before something is done.

Yesterday I learned Finland is statistically the least safe place in the EU for women. We need a bonfire next year, not a bunch of helium balloons and a white lady trying to rap.
Really?!? That's so surprising (and obviously depressing) to me.
You're 100% right. I was listening to a podcast yesterday saying that the left really lost its power when it stopped setting fire to things, and I'm inclined to agree.
That chimes with what an old anarchist friend has always maintained.

Marching from A to B never changed anything, but large numbers of people kicking off in public does, e.g. abolition of Thatcher's poll tax.
I don't know if that's 100% true, because some marches *have* changed things (Jarrow, for example). I don't think you can separate the march itself from the violence and say that one thing and not the other resulted in the reverse of the poll tax either.
But generally I agree that we need to start kicking off big time, especially if, as they're discussing on TV this morning, the authorities try to bring in conscription again. Fight your own fucking wars.
Finns are so jaded about marches that nothing short of torches gets lasting attention. And we need the government to understand that we will not become America.
I think that's true here too, but we're in a much worse place in terms of sucking up to 47. Keith is in thrall to him almost as much as Fartage is, and isn't shy of bringing in policies that reflect those in America, particularly relating to protest. See this also:

I read yesterday that knowing that they’ll receive unjustifiably long prison sentences for peaceful protest, climate activists have changed their tactics to sabotage, e.g. cutting the internet cables to insurers 👍

"But it is in France that the tactic has been most widely used, with actions ranging from activists filling the holes in golf courses with cement..."

I approve!
Not surprising when you know the country. And as far as Finnish marches go it was a huge turnout yesterday and the former president held a powerful speech including said violence, the current state of things and even trump. She ended saying we are the oxygen for humanity referring to what António Guterres said about human rights (being as important as O2). I have to hope Finns will start to wake up
Funny enough I've just come across this, of women yesterday being arbitrarily dragged away by police in plain clothes during a protest in Chihuahua 🤬
