Well I follow a lot of lawyers who post about legal actions. They got a judge to block more flights to El Salvador early this morning so that’s good. Trying to force them to bring Rumeysa Öztürk back to Vermont, too. The due process fight seems to be making it to MSM which is big. Protests this afternoon in the next town over and state capital. Costa Rica for 5 days was my metaphorical blanket fort. Now need to re-gird loins and get back to it I reckon.
Aren't they literally ignoring all the courts - including SCOTUS - now? I did see someone was released from ICE detention yesterday, or maybe Thursday night. Fingers crossed for Öztürk. Yeah, I've seen *a lot* of articles yelling about protecting due process with various permutations of the Niemöller argument and one (non hysterical) mention of Hitler (Snyder's substack). You're probably allowed a readjustment day before loin-girding, I reckon 😊
they are definitely stonewalling the courts where they can, but those orders stand and aren’t getting overturned. Eyes on the ground verified flights didn’t take off so that seems a positive action.
I saw a shout out saying there are protests organised everywhere this weekend. There are trans solidarity ones here, after the ruling at the Supreme Court this week. While typing, this just appeared in my notifications ... might come in useful.
Sure, but at some level posting that stuff is also a scare tactic to keep people from showing up in the first place. They don’t need to deploy the robot dogs, just need people to fear they might.
It’s statistics. There aren’t that many (best guess fewer than 1500 worldwide), most used for industrial processes, few police dept. have them. Never been used against people at protest. PR disaster to do so. Not saying don’t be prepared, but no one should try to stop one of those robot dogs and they are not likely to ever see one. But WORRYING about them, yes that totally keeps people from going out in the first place.
