In doing some reading today and I realized something. I have an enormous issue with the concept of double empathy at least in how it applies to those of us who have the ability to mask well enough to get by in most cases.

This concept is inherently harmful to those with the ability to mask.

There is no gap in our understanding of what neurotypicals desire out of communication with us. In fact we are more aware of their needs than they are.

We’ve had to become experts in fulfilling their emotional needs to progress in life. It’s why communication with them is exhausting and why we script our interactions ahead of time.
