The director of the besieged and under-fire Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza said his hospital has received phone calls from civilians trapped alive under buildings destroyed by Israeli strikes, but there was no way to rescue them.

“Sadly, the next day, their voices were gone, and they were counted among the dead, with their homes becoming their graves.”

“This scene is repeated daily.”

There are 125 patients in the Kamal Adwan hospital, including children and the wounded. The incubator had eight babies and the Intensive Care Unit has seven newborns and children who all need to be on a ventilator.

A four-day-old child, Mohammed, is the only survivor at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Kamal Adwan’s Hospital in Beit Lahiya, which has been under Israeli military siege.

Israeli artillery last week targeted the hospital’s facilities, including the ICU, killing several children. Patients have been battling to stay alive amid electricity outages and a severe shortage of basic supplies, including IV solutions.

Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, says Israeli forces bombed the children’s floor, the nursery department, and the water tanks in the health facility.

The hospital was subjected to heavy Israeli shelling during a visit by a delegation from the World Health Organization.
