The very funnest thing about digging new flower beds when you live on a mountain is the mahoosive rocks you always find 🙄 🥵

Sandy and reddish, or sandy and pale?
(also wondering what your soil pH looks like)
🤷‍♀️😂
Claggy is the word I'd use.
So, a rock garden it is then?
You're soooo funny.
I'm redrawing the border of one of the flower beds so it's straighter, now that the tree that was in the way fell down in the autumn. I'll use them for edging.
Got any sun yet?
A watery glimpse and that’s about it. Even the birds and the squirrels here seem to be taking time out today.
Ha! You've just reminded me to check and see how well my rapid fire photos of buzzards turned out earlier 🤣
I have had occasion recently to experience this in Pennsylvania, USA. Apparently, the state is often called "Rocksylvania" by gardeners and others needing to dig. It's a huge challenge for gardening, so kudos for your struggle with THE EARTH ITSELF to make things beautiful.
It's a battle 🤣
Tbf they're nothing like as big as the ones I dug up a few years ago, which were about three feet across 😬
That's ridiculous! You must have had some kind of wild heavy lifting situation going on. Deeply impressive.
I had some pretty impressively well-toned upper arms by the end of the summer 😁
