Do you think Lego Thatcher will finally realise she can't cut benefits for "growth" now?

GBLB: "Consultancy Oxford Economics is cutting its UK growth forecast after President Trump imposed larger-than-expected tariffs on US imports."

If Reeves continues to accrete shit at this rate, she’ll shortly pass the Huge Liability event horizon and become a reputational black hole.
Are they sufficiently self-aware for this to matter, and will any of their MPs finally start jumping ship? Until then, her hide's probably thick enough to just keep ploughing on like a fucking juggernaut.
I’m so sick of hearing about ‘growth’. How any government policy has to fit the ‘growth agenda’. Growth is simply not sustainable forever, not if we want to live on this planet. But oh wait, they’re not worried about the future. More short-termism. Arrrghh!
It's all they've banged on about for decades, using exactly the same methods to achieve it, and they've failed. This is what happens when government is nothing more than the handmaiden of big business.
I guess you saw that article in the Graun today? Climate's going to destroy capitalism. Good. I wish it would fucking hurry up.
it really fucks me off too.
It just never ends. Thank fuck it's spring.
I just started to have a look at this 417 page list of US imports that might get reciprocal #tariffs. What strikes me is why the hell are we even importing half of this stuff anyway, from a climate/animal welfare pov as much as anything. Yeah yeah, it’s always about money, but just makes me want to buy local more than ever.
I've been checking provenance on everything I buy for a few months now, same as I do with Israel. I'm going to try to eat more seasonally this year.
I started getting local produce shipped to our house, and you know, it's been pretty fun to relearn how to use all those winter root vegetables! And every season will bring different ingredients to work with
It's just too expensive to do that here unfortunately. It'd increase my monthly food bill about threefold.
Aww that's unfortunate :( I guess we're lucky to live so close to lots of farms!
I do too but seeing the list was an eye-opener.
Oooft. Guess I'd better have a look then ::sigh::
