So, I showed up to my book launch at the literary festival today. Telling Greek and Roman myths, appropriately dressed because why not :)

Then I was told 3 minutes before stage time that... my #mythology book is not being sold at the festival.

Because... by Hungarian law, you can't sell #lgbtq content within 200 meters of a school.

So 8pm, at an adult literary event, I couldn't actually sign. Greek mythology. Because there is a school building nearby.

Wonderful stories on your website. I fear for people who are afraid a of a new idea (“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” Emerson) - old school arch social conservatism and nationalistic populism is an intoxicating mixture in many countries.(FP Magazine). Budapest is a beautiful city and “és aki nem álmodik Nagy Magyarországr” (who doesn’t dream of a Greater Hungary).

They have been changing legislation in slow increments for years. No adoption, no gender change, and now no LGBT+ literature. Or even mention of the topic to anyone under 18.
