I'm glad to hear this outcome. Damien Carrick from #ABCAustralia law report did at least 3 pieces on this justice. I think there was also a #backgroundbriefing on this guy. There is still no official way to 'sack' federal justices other than through parliamentary action which pollies (sort of justifiably) do not want to do. However such egregious failures from the bench need to be called for what they are and these rulings go a long way toward providing another avenue for justice to be enacted.

There is a real issue about the need for better mechanisms to deal with judicial misconduct in Australia. Big issue in the USA at the moment as well.

Yes, it's a tricky one for sure - there are very good reasons the current judiciary independence threshold is as high as it is. Having said that the AG liaising with bar council and lawyer groups seems to be stalling on progress. How confident are you about action in this space? Do you think Dreyfus is likely to move on the proposed federal judiciary review board or similar?
