"Brainstem Neurons Guide Gaze, Maintain Short-Term Memory"

https://neurosciencenews.com/brainstem-neurons-vision-memory-28116/

"Researchers used zebrafish larvae to uncover how brainstem neurons guide gaze and maintain short-term memory. By mapping neuronal circuits, they built a computational model that accurately predicted network activity.

The findings shed light on visual-motor systems and offer insights for treating eye movement disorders."

Did you know that the human brain contains more than 100 billion neurons, enough to fill a stadium 10 times over? Or that the largest structure in the universe is a supercluster of galaxies, spanning over 10 billion light-years? These mind-blowing facts remind us of the vastness and complexity of the universe! #MindBlowingFacts #Universe #Brain #github mastadon #microsoft #siliconvalley #foia #journalism #nyc #boston #nft #digitalart #google #llm #llama #michaelpaulino #michaelpaulinostudios

Six exercises for your brain

Regular exercise helps improve concentration, increase stress resistance and slow down age-related changes in brain function.

They also affect the general psycho-emotional state, making us more resistant to depression, anxiety and cognitive impairment.

A team of researchers tracked 30 women who menstruate over their cycles, documenting in detail the structural changes that take place in the brain as hormonal profiles fluctuate. What’s more, the changes may extend beyond regions associated with the menstrual cycle. @ScienceAlert reports: https://flip.it/sh265K

I wrote about neuralink in 2012 helping a paralyzed woman.

Oh, what, it was some other scientists who have been working on brain-computer interfaces for a long, long time? Yes it was.

Veteran science reporters would know the context and include it...but today's news biz isn't interested in all that.

Scientists identify how dietary restriction slows brain aging and increases lifespan
Restricting calories is known to improve health and increase lifespan, but much of how it does so remains a mystery, especially in regard to how it protects the brain. Scientists have now uncovered a role for a gene called OXR1 that is necessary for the lifespan extension seen with dietary restriction and is essential for healthy brain aging.

Does MDMA damage the brain's white matter?

White matter forms the bulk of the deep parts of the brain and affects learning and brain functions. Animal studies have suggested that chronic MDMA use can degrade white matter.

Luckily, this new study in humans compared 39 chronic MDMA users with 36 non-users and found no evidence of white matter degradation in the MDMA users.
