We need serious #ForestryReform in #BritishColumbia immediately. We need to implement the science-based recommendations from experts who were commissioned multiple times by #BCNDP #BCgovernment to produce #OldGrowth Strategic Reviews (twice during Horgan's regime). They promised to implement the recommendations but they have not done so. Our old growth forests aren't numerous anymore & yet our #capitalist driven, #neoliberal government is still allowing them to be cut. In a severe #ClimateCrisis - we're stuck with political leaders who are still siding with ecocidal corporations. We need to ban corporate lobbyists. They never have citizens' best interests at heart & our politicians are too easily bribed.

Now, just days after he secured a second term in the White House, Congress is already moving to hand a resurgent #Trump administration a powerful cudgel that it could wield against ideological opponents in #CivilSociety.

"Up for a fast-track vote next week in the House of representatives, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, also known as #HR9495, would grant the secretary of Treasury Department unilateral authority to revoke the tax-exempt status of any nonprofit deemed to be a 'terrorist supporting organization.'"

As we near the end of the #US Election, I'm going to wind down on talking about the voting stuff. If you have not voted yet, you still have the time to go to the polls and do so: this is close, and your state could very well be on the line. It would greatly benefit everyone here if Kamala Harris wins.

This post isn't about that though.

Something I want to say, as the din of everyone trying to get everyone out to vote dies down and before the chaos of Trump's inevitable preemptive victory declaration, is that we have to remember, either way, there is so much #hope for the #future.

Yes, a Trump victory will be disastrous. Businesses will close, culture will be damaged, lives ruined, and innocent people killed, in the US, #Ukraine, and #Palestine.

Yet we will continue to fight him and his people. There are so many of #activists who will do everything in our power to fight him, and to pressure Kamala Harris if she wins.

...and, in the long term, we are WINNING.
