i recently saw blue(?!) primroses for the first time growing in the north side of a nearby creek, absolutely basking in the early spring sunlight
Oh, how lush! Did you take a photo? It took me literal years to be arsed to set up my camera (which actually took about 2 minutes when I got round to it 😂 ) but now I'm totally obsessed with taking pictures of my garden.
they look more red violet than blue violet in the pic (memory, lol). the first time i've ever seen a primrose in another colour!
several primroses lifting their sweet faces to the bright spring light. these flowers are red violet with butter centers instead of the usual creamy yellow, but the shape of the petals and leaves gives them away as a primrose - the first i've ever seen in this alt colour.
The only reason I knew mine were primroses is because plantnet told me, so you're doing much better than me 🤣
i only know their name bc my dutch mil taught me their dutch name several years ago, and i liked it better than the english name (primulas)
Primula was taken as a brand name here by a particularly nasty cheese spread and this variety has the classification vulgaris, so I stuck to the common name 😁
