View from above shrubs and Palmetto trees where the tops appear at the bottom of the view. Beyond lies a blue-gray Atlantic ocean. In the distance, an orange-colored cloud layer through the middle of the view with the yellow sun in the center mostly risen. An orange semicircle appears around the sun, giving way to a blue sky above. A couple of thin horizontal clouds also are present.

An old entity has been preserved in the courtyard of the historical home site surrounding it. It has seen five flags fly over it as civilized nations fought each other, even burned the city, to colonize the area.

Was touring the Pelican National Wildlife Refuge hours ago. This is the first NWR ever created. More upcoming in this thread.

🦋 Saw many Great Southern Whites feeding. Their caterpillars feed on Mustards, Peppergrass, Saltwort, and Sea Rocket. They are found in coastal scrub, saltwater marshes, and dunes. Unusual coloration on the body.

On my tour of the Pelican NWR, saw these Beggar Ticks attracting butterflies. Previously treated as native plants, evidence (including DNA) is piling up that they are not. Probably just as well.

They are found in disturbed areas, such as the maintained trail I was walking on.

The foreground has partial view of waves breaking on the beach but is more filled with tops of Palmettos and shrubs. Sunlight is reflect along the short waves behind this vegetation putting them is silhouette. At the bottom right, in the darkness, is part of an architecturally decorative building top with small surround windows similar to those found on the East Coast of the U.S. in the 1900s.
