It occurs to me that many of my fellow tootsies may enjoy my 2012 novel, The Fridgularity. It's about a web-enabled fridge taking over the internet and all other digital technology. It's a dozen years old, but I think it holds up pretty well.

Or you can get it for free if you sign up for my highly irregular newsletter. I mean that in two ways.

"Even the film’s directing team, composed of Palestinian Israeli citizen Rami Younis and Sarah Ema Friedland, an American Jew, speaks to its dream of peaceful coexistence. And yet when a theater in Jaffa attempted to screen it in early October, police shut it down. Shortly thereafter, Israeli minister of culture Miki Zohar banned the film." #Lyd #Palestine #Cinema #SciFi cc: @theforward https://forward.com/culture/673651/lyd-israel-palestine-lod-documentary-ban/

Y’all, I took this book with me, and just had a wonderful couple of days ripping through it.

Alpha Max by Mark A. Rayner (@markarayner)
It’s a fun, light but thoughtful sci-fi romp. The protagonist is aware of, and remarks upon, things like various tropes, Campbells Heroes Journey, and silly names given to space weapons. The book riffs on philosophical “truisms”, and delves into the meaning of consciousness, and where one left one’s void.
And of course there’s a clown. But he has a four foot dildo, so it’s fine. 🥳

"Hey Bob, I know you've just dropped acid and all, but we really need the cover illustration for the Easter issue of Space Dorks magazine."

Old pulp-style illustration of two spacemen. One pointing, the other holding the pointing dude's head like he's about to snap his neck. They are both looking at a giant pink bunny, holding the planet earth and shooting laser beams out of its nostrils.

Listen to a sci-fi novel by Titanic victim John Jacob Astor IV published in 1894 about life in the year 2000; it includes descriptions of a world wide telephone network, solar power, air travel and space travel to Saturn and Jupiter.

#WritersCoffeeClub Sept 5: Do you have an intended audience for your writing?

I write the stories I would love to read myself. So, the intended audience must be grumpy fifty-six year old men 🤣.

My hard #scifi could appeal to anyone, as the science element is the background to a human drama. I don't write wacky sci-fi 🤔.

I envisage my epic #fantasy suiting anyone who loves the LOTR, GOT or similar high fantasy.

None of my work is honed for a specific demographic.

The real question is HOW do we want time travel? Upgraded Delorian? Old-timey British Police box? Fancy art nouveau design with upholstered seat? HOW do we want time travel!
