My bike and I are exploring the “commune” next to ours, hoping to reach 90% (of all roads, tracks and paths).
Just had to explain to a man what I was doing after he warned me this track wasn’t going anywhere. He was duly impressed. 😄

Doing the final bits of an area can be frustrating (often non-existent, overgrown, muddy tracks etc), but it can also be fun. I’m always hoping for a treasure in a dead end. 😄 Sometimes there is, like a field with cute cows, horses or sheep.

Residential cul-de-sacs are also interesting cuz people feel more “private” there so you can see all the shit they leave outside their houses. OR the obscenely huge houses they built.

All that to say, cycling is great!!! 😆 And give Wandrer.earth a try if you wanna discover hidden gems (in a systematic fashion).

More than 80 participants joined Montreal's Critical Mass yesterday. The vibe and energy were excellent; however, the temperature was quite cold, especially at a slow pace. We finished the ride at Mabrasserie for a nice social moment.

This is a long shot, but if you are in the Seattle area and see a bike like the one in the picture, please let me know. It was my 2021 Specialized Roubaix Sport that was stolen in front of FOB Poke Bar in Belltown, Seattle, on Friday, January 10, around 12:20 PM.

Honestly, I've only got myself to blame. I had the bike locked to a staple rack with a U-Lock, but I must have dropped the key on the ground right next to the bike. i was having lunch in FOB Poke Bar when I saw someone trying to unlock my bike out the window. I ran out, but the bastard was able to ride away in the nick of time.

So... please keep an eye out. Thank you!

Here's Lyft providing a great statement of Lyft's values in #bikenyc: subsidizing congestion, while also increasing #bikeshare prices, and using #citibike infrastructure to promote car trips.

Note, too, that all of the bikes in the station are #ebikes, meaning that they require a per-minute user fee.

Hey #BikeTooter folks, does anyone have a #BurleyTravoy that didn't initially reach the hitch, and they created a workaround?

I have an old Travoy that needed a hitch, which I got for Christmas, but unfortunately the trailer can't reach the hitch because the eBike battery is in the way. It's not something that can be relocated. Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution? Thanks!

I finally got around to assembling my #BikesAtWork trailer to help with a New Years Day #BikeMove.

It can be set up in short, long and extra-long modes. Here it is in short-mode, a perfect fit for some storage tubs I already had. In extra-long mode it is fully qualified for the #CarryShitOlympics.

To pull it, the other day I put together this (mostly) parts bin Specialized RockCombo (iykyk).

Cycling my kid to school this morning I saw someone standing next to a busy road with an easel, painting. It was so jarring, in a way that seeing someone painting by the river isn't, even though they were painting the trees in the distance. The jacarandas are blooming here.

Sharing good news as a tonic: The State of Washington rejected an initiative that would have repealed the carbon auction cap-and-trade system. It has produced revenues for greatly increased investments in transit, active transportation, home energy improvements, and other climate-friendly work (including programs I oversee so yes I'm relieved).

It's the off-season for #cycling , so I did some measurements for a hub #dynamo and published them on my #blog.

No one on the 'net seems to show how voltage changes depending on load, so I measured that.

Results:
- a dynamo is not a actually well modeled as a current source
- voltage spikes will fry your #electronics , but you can prevent it
