“#X is a #toxic #media platform and […] its owner Elon #Musk has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse”

“we can do this because our business model does not rely on #viral content tailored to the whims of the #social media giants’ #algorithms
↳Yes. Fake news, polarization, and controversial content are largely the results of the #ad and #privacy harvesting #business model

Report: The Guardian will no longer post on X from its 80+ official Guardian accounts.

The Guardian said content on the platform included far-right conspiracy theories & racism, adding that "the site’s coverage of the US presidential election had crystallised its decision."

Finally (I hear you say) The Guardian has decided that actually X is too toxic a social media space to post on...

What would be great would be if they now geared up their presence here.... but, given their past journalistic comments, it may be that Mastodon is a little too complex for them (even though we all know that's rubbish)... and of course I'm sure lots of people will still pst links to pieces on X in any case so they'll still be there...

"The #Guardian has announced it will no longer post content on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, from its official accounts."

Does The Guardian already have an official #Mastodon account?

Well done to the team at The Guardian for standing up against X.

Their statement: "The US presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse."

We look forward to helping the wave of journalists and publications that will no doubt follow.

OK. New rule.

I won't even favourite posts that contain #Guardian articles.

No boosts, no likes.

I see posts and they sound interesting and I'm all ready to read the article and boost until I see it's either a #Guardian or a #BBC article, so I skip it.

Why was it the Guardian?. If they would have supported instead of attacking Jeremy Corbyn he might have eeked it out. It was pretty close. And the did it for Israel. They poisoned the whole thing with fake antisemitism charges. If we ever want anything better we need to realize that none of the western press is a all interested in improving the conditions of any human lives. #Guardian #Journalism #UK #Press #Politics
