Is there an official #TheGuardian account on here? Looking it up I see a huge list of potentials but most are bots and it's unclear which is the official one.

Edit: particularly wondering because I read on French news (#LeMonde) that the guardian had 19000 followers on Mastodon.. Where did they get that from?🤔 (https://www.lemonde.fr/actualite-medias/article/2024/11/14/apres-le-guardian-le-quotidien-espagnol-la-vanguardia-annonce-qu-il-ne-postera-plus-sur-le-reseau-social-x_6391705_3237.html)

Edit 2: The Guardian does not link to a Mastodon account from their website which probably means they do not have an official account. However I did email them to let them know they would be welcome on Mastodon / the Fediverse!

A lot of bad journalism is about what they don’t say. Another fabulous example today from #TheGuardian - and they know what I’m about to post so this is journalistic malpractice

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/nov/13/consultant-tells-inquiry-he-wishes-he-had-voiced-concerns-about-lucy-letby-sooner

Dr Jayaram was also on duty for a very large # of the deaths but that fact was removed inexplicably from the report. His testimony has been destroyed by experts. He’s not credible. & yet…

Some good news: The Guardian has announced it will stop posting from its official accounts on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), due to concerns that the negatives, including "often disturbing content," now outweigh the benefits. The organization informed readers of this decision, affecting over 80 accounts with around 27 million followers.

#TheGuardian stops posting content on #X.
This is the right step to go forward, specially for all independent media.
Of course not expecting this from corporate owned media houses, since their policies are hand in glove with that of the owner of X. ie. maximize profits and side with the political ideology that would help them to achieve it.

" 'We wanted to let readers know that we will no longer post on any official Guardian editorial accounts on the social media site X,' the Guardian said.
The Guardian has more than 80 accounts on X with approximately 27 million followers."

I've been a Guardian reader most of my adult life, and have been a subscriber to their online edition for several years too. I'm pleased to see they've bailed from Twitter, finally - "the US presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse."

I also recommend former editor Alan Rusbridger's book about his time there and how they changed to embrace an online approach, "Breaking News"

Tired of this BS. #TheGuardian - do better. A lot better.

These are not "Campaigners against antisemitism"

They are fascist adjacent #Zionists. They do not represent Jews. They represent #genocide

And if our media just reports like this how the utter fuck are those not invested in the issue supposed to know what's actually going on?

"In running an opinion piece that suggests it may now be acceptable to use the term #genocide about #Gaza, #theGuardian has admitted it has been – even according to its own resident genocide expert – complicit in obscuring that genocide for a half a year.”

Israeli football team fans tear down Palestinian flag and burn it. beat up a Moroccan taxi driver. chant racist songs calling to kill Arabs. Disrupt minute of silence for Valencia. Vandalize private property.
But Media reports events as Pogrom - new Kristallnacht - in Amsterdam against Israeli soccer fans, Netanyahu sends planes to save Jews…

#JonathanCook | A year late, #TheGuardian finally permits us to use the term #Genocide

"The Guardian is readying its alibi before the dust settles, and the true toll shocks even Israel’s supporters. The paper urgently needs to rationalise its many long months of obfuscation and procrastination, and get in its excuses before Donald Trump heads to the White House. This opinion piece is the Guardian’s vehicle for doing all that."

"In running an opinion piece that suggests it may now be acceptable to use the term genocide about Gaza, the Guardian has admitted it has been – even according to its own resident genocide expert – complicit in obscuring that genocide for a half a year.

Remember that when editor Kath Viner comes cap in hand once again, as she did this week, begging for money from readers for her brand of supposedly “fearless, independent journalism”.

"...I believe that the deference and evasiveness of legacy American #media comes from many causes, including fear and the habit of pursuing the appearance of being even-handed even at a time when the national political situation is wildly lopsided. Lopsided, that is, because one side is pursuing attacks on #democracy and the constitution and seeks to institute an authoritarian regime while stripping rights away from most of us ..."

A neurological study in the Netherlands has revealed that real works of art in a museum stimulate the brain in a way that is 10 times stronger than looking at a poster.

Great article. I love these pithy quotes:
"free speech, a noble concept that tends to splinter on impact with complex reality"
"Musk has climbed into bed with Donald Trump, both men citing popular support while being chiefly focused on self-enrichment and the gratification of their overweening vanity"
#TheGuardian @TheGuardian

I feel sad for people who rely on #BBC #TheGuardian #nytimes #CNN as a source of #news to understand the world.

Their worldview is that of a person in #PlatosCave - trying to make sense of an increasingly complex world by looking at a set of carefully curated shadows; the courage needed to crawl out of the cave euthanised by their puppet masters lest they be shocked by the level of their own misinformation.
