Um drone militar israelense conduziu um ataque direto contra um veículo de um membro da equipe de vacinação contra a poliomielite do Fundo das Nações Unidas para a Infância (Unicef), no campo de refugiados de Jabalia, no norte de Gaza, reportou a agência.

As informações são da rede de notícias Anadolu.

O carro sofreu danos, mas o funcionário de saúde não se feriu — embora “profundamente abalado” —, reportou a Unicef.

Outro ataque feriu três crianças perto de uma clínica de vacinação em Sheikh Radwan, ao interromper a campanha de vacinação na região, confirmou a agência.

“As ações em Jabalia, na clínica de vacinação e contra um funcionário da Unicef são mais um exemplo das graves consequências dos ataques indiscriminados contra civis na Faixa de Gaza”, comentou Catherine Russell, diretora executiva da Unicef, no sábado (2).

Segundo Russell, a nova escalada israelense contra o norte de Gaza — em curso desde o início de outubro, sob alertas de limpeza étnica e reocupação ilegal — representa “um dos capítulos mais sinistros desta guerra terrível”.

Russell reiterou que a lei internacional ordena proteção a civis e infraestrutura civil, dentre os quais trabalhadores humanitários, abrigos e residências. Todavia, ao longo de um ano, Israel destruiu bairros inteiros, escolas, hospitais e outros.

Russell advertiu ainda que “as ordens de evacuação e deslocamento [emitidas por Israel] não significam que qualquer parte no conflito possa considerar indivíduos e objetos civis como alvos militares”.

A Unicef pediu ainda “investigação imediata” sobre o incidente.

A Unicef, junto à Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), Agência das Nações Unidas para Assistência aos Refugiados da Palestina (UNRWA) e Ministério da Saúde da Palestina, tem realizado a segunda etapa da campanha contra a vacinação contra pólio no enclave.

A primeira rodada da vacinação foi implementada entre 1º e 12 de setembro, sob tréguas de três dias cada no centro, sul e norte de Gaza, atingindo 95% do público-alvo. A segunda fase segue a estratégia; contudo, sem a adesão de Israel.

A campanha foi acordada após um primeiro caso sintomático da doença em 25 anos, em um bebê de apenas dez meses de idade.

A cobertura vacinal contra pólio nos territórios palestinos é notavelmente alta, com 99% em 2022 — no entanto, registrou queda a 89% no final de 2023, no contexto dos bombardeios israelenses a Gaza, com 43 mil mortos e cem mil feridos.

Casos de hepatite A, difteria e gastroenterite também atingem a população.

Os avanços de Israel seguem em desacato de uma resolução do Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas, além de medidas cautelares do Tribunal Internacional de Justiça (TIJ), em Haia, onde é réu por genocídio sob denúncia sul-africana deferida em janeiro.
