Been talking to my Black and Brown friends about Luigi and there's a growing consensus that he's possibly the first white guy in a loooong time folks can understand and respect their crime.

When you got the black folks covering for you, saying you were at the house party and carrying on in the comments in support you know you struck a chord.

Hands down, most liked white guy in quite some time.

Social media post showing a black people hanging out a party and posing for a photo. Luigi, the alleged CEO killer squats in front. The original posters text states: "It was really good catching up with you Luigi Mangione on Dec 4th 2024 at my party, between the hours of 6 a.m and 6 p.m in Towson Maryland."

"As health insurance companies continue to use AI to help save money—and employ heinous tactics like denying care because an algorithm has calculated the person will die before the insurer is forced to pay out—we’re watching the complete dehumanization of people through the eyes of the health care system in real time.

The tragedy of Thompson’s death is a stark reminder of how broken our system has become—not just for the millions of Americans who are denied care each year, but also for the executives who run these companies and are so far removed from the people they are supposed to be helping. Artificial intelligence will be revolutionary in health care, no question; it will help diagnose diseases earlier, develop lifesaving treatments, and make medical care more accessible to people around the globe. But as with all technologies, AI is being weaponized as yet another tool to maximize profits at the expense of human lives. What else should we expect from an industry that doesn’t think of people as people, but rather as numbers on a spreadsheet?"

Despite antitrust regulators’ efforts to rein it in, UnitedHealth Group has been growing to control ever more of the health care sector. The corporation’s expanding power has meant worse care, higher prices, and a mounting human toll.

In 2008, New York’s attorney general found that UnitedHealth Group had used data from its health care technology arm to dramatically underpay reimbursements for out-of-network medical expenses.

Michael Moore on the #unitedhealthcare CEO murder:

“The anger is 1000% justified. It is long overdue for the media to cover it. It is not new. It has been boiling. And I’m not going to tamp it down or ask people to shut up. I want to pour gasoline on that anger.”

There's "Responsive Government" when #RichPigs get slaughtered.

"New York state is considering creating a special hotline just for #CEOs to report perceived threats, CNN reported this morning. What a nice reminder of just how responsive government can be when it comes to corporate #executives. Coming at the heels of the murder of #UnitedHealthcare CEO #BrianThompson..."

A long but thoughtful look into the killing of #unitedhealthcare CEO.

#ethics

Isn't it strange how the same rhetoric we knew in the context (systemic) racism like "we see your pain, things are improving but we are not there yet" is now used to calm us down in the aftermath of the health insurance CEO shooting?

#mangione #unitedhealthcare #racism

Not going to condone violence, nor am I going to weigh in on the current ethics debate, but something that somewhat impressed me about the #CEOShooter who shot the #UnitedHealthcare CEO as what was clearly a form of violent #activism, was the thought put into the execution.

He picked a cold time of year, and wore a breathing mask and hood the entire time, and cheap clothing he could apparently dump whenever to blend in after. The only time any part of him was identifiable was when he pulled down his mask to check into a place, something that could have been planned for with a goatee and some dye.

He took a bus into town which he paid for with cash, then another back out, and did all this in such a way it's not even clear what state he was from: he used fake IDs and burner phones where necessary.

He didn't stick around to make a statement: he carved his statement into the bullet casings, a 3-Word-Manifesto.

He made a getaway by biking to Central Park, an unsecurable area away from cameras.

Because of the expected death of my brother yesterday, in the period leading up to that sad event, I've been eyeing the news without systematically following it. One story that has captivated my attention, if not systematically, is the story of Luigi Mangione's shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

To be precise, I'm interested in how this event has been received, especially in American culture.

“A Manifesto Against For-Profit Health Insurance Companies — by Michael Moore”

in DeMOCKracy.Ink by Mark Taylor on Substack

“Here is Michael Moore at his best slamming back at the wealthy corporate leeches ... plus you can watch his excellent film "Sicko" for free. His comments on Luigi Mangione's manifesto is excellent.”

"Elites are reportedly ramping up security in the aftermath of the shooting of #UnitedHealthcare’s CEO. They’re especially fearful of copycats following widespread praise for #LuigiMangione online. In this video we’ll discuss 'fear in the C-Suite' and talk about why American anger is at an all-time high." https://youtu.be/UiW-LD50xD8 #HealthCare #MedicaidForAll #HealthInsurance #Millionaires #Billionaires

I think this paragraph from MSNBC is pretty accurate.

'little outward sympathy' and then says why people would be that way, with legitimate reasons.

#USPOL #BrianThompson #UnitedHealthcare
Thompson's killing has sparked fear among corporate executives,
though there has been little outward sympathy from an American
public that has long struggled with exorbitant health care costs and
 nightmare experiences with insurance companies.

He 'bore a resemblance' = person of interest. Have they produced any evidence he was at the scene yet?

"The FBI spoke to #LuigiMangione’s mother the night before her son’s high-profile arrest and told the feds he bore a resemblance to the suspect wanted for killing #UnitedHealthcare #DeadCEOGoodCEO #BrianThompson, per #NYPD"
