"Sanders, who is attracting a lot of people who did not support him in 2016 and 2020 to his rallies, is building a different kind of politics. He has refined his argument to focus on oligarchy, the group of superrich who are running the United States. And a newer generation of politicians are recognizing in that argument something that makes sense. There are conflicting messages, notably the New York Times’ Ezra Klein and The Atlantic’s Derek Thompson launching a campaign around the concept of Abundance, which I’ll touch on soon. But the possibility of sharpening policy tools to bring our oligarchs back into our democracy and match them with a political coalition is there.

And in that sense, I am thankful to Paul Weiss and Brad Karp. In this dangerous moment, the Democratic corporate establishment, by capitulating so obviously to Trump in return for corporate money, has just ripped out the heart that ran the Clinton, Obama, and much of the toxic parts of the Biden administrations. And they did so at the only moment in the last two decades during which normal Democrats are looking for someone to blame for their own party’s fecklessness. And who better to blame than the would-be Kamala Harris staff, a pack of Google and private equity defense lawyers - and Chuck Schumer’s brother - who, when the chips were down, bent the knee to Trump?"

"I compared how senators voted on these resolutions to how much money (in the form of political contributions) they received from pro-Israel interest groups during the 2024 senate election cycle (2019-24).

Specifically, I compared the median amount of pro-Israel cash accepted by the group of senators who voted against Sanders’s resolutions — i.e., who voted to approve the weapons sales to Israel — to the median amount accepted by the senators who voted for Sanders’s resolutions, i.e., to block the weapons sales to Israel.

The senators who voted to approve the arms sales to Israel accepted over three times more money from pro-Israel donors than those who voted to block the sales. The precise amounts were $197,974 and $63,613, respectively.

Victor #Pinchuk, a Ukrainian billionaire on good terms with the Zelensky administration, hired Trump’s former aide Kellyanne #Conway as a lobbyist in Washington for a fee of $50,000 per month. According to official filings with the Justice Department, Conway will advise Pinchuk’s foundation on “the current state of views on Ukraine among US elected officials, candidates, experts, and opinion leaders.” The lobbying agreement expires on Nov. 14, about a week after Election Day, unless both sides agree to extend it.

In mid-September, about a week before Zelensky’s arrival in the U.S., Pinchuk hosted an annual summit in Kyiv that attracted a range of influential guests from the U.S. and Europe. While working on the program, Pinchuk appealed to Boris #Johnson, the former British Prime Minister, to convince Trump to participate via live video link. “Unfortunately I failed completely to get that,” Johnson said at the conference.
