Don’t Underestimate the Russian Military After the Ukraine War

Russian president Vladimir Putin has consistently said that, “this conflict is not about territory…[it] is about the principles underlying the new international order.” He has repeatedly said that, although Russian troops in 2022 “approached Kiev … there was no political decision to storm the three-million city.”

Rather, he says, “it was nothing more than an operation to force the Ukrainian regime to peace. The troops were there to push the Ukrainian side to negotiations.”

This worked. Within weeks, Ukraine had agreed in Istanbul to abandon its NATO ambitions, Russia had withdrawn its troops from around Kyiv, and peace appeared possible before the West intervened and discouraged it.

Ukrainian-American Fiasco

Citing reckless command decisions that have exposed combat troops to unnecessary risk, the Ukrainian defense ministry has replaced the brigade’s commander three times since September. The 47th Mechanized Brigade “struggles to find a commander worth keeping,” explained Militaryland.net, an analysis group that tracks the Ukrainian military developments.

Now led by its fourth commander in seven months—Col. Yan Yatsishen, formerly of the well-regarded 56th Motorized Brigade—the 47th Mechanized Brigade is practically begging for a break.

It has suffered hundreds of casualties. It has lost at least 40 of its roughly 200 M-2 fighting vehicles and five of its 31 M-1 tanks. Fearful of losing more of the 69-ton M-1s to Russian drones, the brigade recently pulled the surviving tanks off the front line so unit leaders could rethink their tactics.

About different understandings of war

They add that, in essence, Western military engineering is made for peacetime conditions—in real war conditions, a totally new rough-and-tumble ethos must be adopted. Where have we heard that before? Recall my article pasted above, which speaks precisely of that philosophical clash, and how Russia had already long learned the lesson having been habituated to real existential Total Wars on its territory, rather than the predatory wars of opportunity the West is accustomed to waging.

A British Nuclear Missile Test Fails, Again
This time, too, the failed launch was first reported not by the defense ministry but by a London tabloid, The Sun, which said the missile’s boosters failed and it landed in the water not far from the submarine, the H.M.S. Vanguard, which had just come out of a seven-year refurbishment.

Wrong turn

In the vicinity of the village of Pobeda (south of Maryinka), another Leopard drove the wrong way, turning a corner into a funnel from a FAB.
The crew abandoned the vehicle and fled. What happened to it further, they promise to tell a little later. The mechanic's a good-looking guy. Probably one of the ones they caught up with on the street.

Otherwise, how can one explain the presence of hundreds of NATO tanks, APCs, Air Defense complexes, other weapon systems, war materiel and, not least, "advisers" on the side of VSU. Let's not muddy waters here, even WaPo is open about this now--the whole Goddamn thing was planned in Pentagon and by British military amateurs. Ukies have been merely awe-struck students who followed NATO "planning" and we can see the result of it now. I know it hurts, but Pentagon doesn't do real strategy or real serious operational planning against REAL armies or superpowers--they don't teach it in the US. US simply has no experience with fighting wars of such scale to any favorable outcome. "Brilliant" campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam are a testament to this inability. The system for such wars is simply not there, it never was. One cannot change the military "genetics" of primarily a naval power, which never fought anything but expeditionary warfare.

About America's Delicate Weapons

it’s the Abrams’ filters that might prove to be the biggest headaches for Ukrainian troops. Twice a day, an M-1 crew must rev its tank’s engine to high revolutions-per-minute in order to trigger a pulse-jet system that blasts air out of the tank rather than into it, shooting dust and debris from the back grille.

That keeps the filters clean across lengthy deployments. Before the Americans added the pulse-jet system to the M-1, in the early 2000s, tank crews—especially those fighting in the desert—openly complained about their vehicles’ reliability.

“Army officials are aware of the problems with high fuel consumption, unreliable fuel pumps and sand-ingestion,” the U.S. Government Accountability Office reported in 1992. “They are working on solutions.”

The solution to the sand-ingestion problem was the twice-a-day pulse-jet cleaning process. It works just fine, as long as crews rigorously adhere to its schedule. Even when they’re getting shot at.

"All those things can be taught to the crew, but if ever they make a mistake—and they will—it blows a million-dollar engine that can't be repaired in the field," Mark Hertling, a retired U.S. Army general

- Why do you have the call sign Fritz?
- Oh... My friend Halychanyn first called me Fritz in 2016. And it stuck. I have never hidden the fact that I am half German. You know, I have a family of "anti-Soviet" people: some were in the Hitler Youth, others in the UPA. And they all met in Siberia, and my mother was born from this love. That's how it happened. In principle, I am quite boring and methodical when it comes to doing something. I think I live up to my pseudonym somewhere.

And you wonder why the Russkies call them ‘Wehrmacht’ on the radios.

On the monumental failure of the U.S. military

In 2022, the Pentagon only managed to account for 39 percent of its $3.5 trillion in assets. With this failure, the Pentagon has kept its spot as the only US government agency to have never passed a comprehensive audit. It also highlights the US war department's persistent lack of internal financial control, its poor budget estimations and rampant overspending.

A clear example of this is the F-35 program, which has gone over its original budget by $165 billion to build a plane tasked to perform many different tasks, none of which it does well. The Pentagon is slated to buy more than 2,400 F-35s for the Air Force, Marines, and Navy. The estimated lifetime cost for procuring and operating these planes – $1.7 trillion – would make it the Pentagon’s most expensive weapons project ever.

A 2021 Pentagon assessment of the F-35 found 800 unresolved defects in the plane.
For sixth year, Pentagon fails to account for over $3T

Let's remember Zumwalt, it's a total failure there too.

If the Russians were Americans, they would not hesitate to bring nuclear armageddon to the US right now with their hypersonic missiles. But fortunately for the Americans, the Russians always think about the civilians who may innocently suffer. In short, the Americans are extremely lucky.

The head of Lockheed-Martin is on the line:

"It makes no sense to keep Israel from a military operation. What is the point? In further developing our industrial complex, which should account for more than 2% of GDP. There are conflicts that need to be resolved with weapons - and we are ready to provide those weapons"

With regard to the war in Ukraine, a similar logic applies. And with regard to a future war in Taiwan, too.

About the pathological predilection for nuclear weapons

"According to declassified documents made public under the Freedom of Information Act, on the night of December 3, 1949, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission sprayed radioactive iodine-131 (12,000 Curies) and xenon-133 (20,000 Curies) over 500,000 acres of land, including the Washington State towns of Hanford, White Bluff and Richland as part of Project Green Run.

About two thousand square miles of land in Washington State was contaminated. The radioactive cloud spread throughout that state and went into Oregon. The purpose of this exercise was to practice what the military would do after a nuclear strike."

Bild/Foto

“Fallout from the nuclear tests—radioactive particles that were swept into the atmosphere and fell back down to the earth—found their way into crops and livestock, whose radioactivity humans took on when they consumed milk, meat and produce. Fallout takes many different chemical forms, one of which is iodine-131: an isotope, or version, of iodine that has the usual 53 protons but 78 neutrons instead of the standard 74. Inside the body, the thyroid gland will absorb iodine-131, which eventually decays to produce radiation that can cause thyroid cancer and other problems.”

“The Nuclear Arms Race was the direct result of America’s September 1945 plan to “blow up the Soviet Union”, formulated by the US War Department.
The Soviet Union tested its first nuclear bomb in 1949. Without the Manhattan Project and the War Department’s September 15, 1945 “World War III Blueprint”, the Arms Race would not have occurred.
The September 15, 1945 War Department set the stage for numerous plans to wage World War III against Russia and China:”

“The city leaders were very excited to have a nuclear test site on their doorstep. After all, the tourists showed unprecedented enthusiasm for what was happening in the desert. The first test, code-named Able, which was held Jan. 27, 1951, was celebrated with a musical parade attended by young girls dressed in costumes resembling a nuclear mushroom - says Fuhrer. - "Then a B-50 bomber dropped a nuclear bomb on the range whose power matched the power of both nuclear bombs the Americans dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.”

“Typically, over the next 12 years, tests were conducted every three weeks. Soon they became a real event. Tourists and locals drove to the desert, had picnics and watched the explosion from about 100 km away .”

About NATO

NATO is a club of forced-voluntary buyers of American-made weapons. This is what NATO's lauded standards are, which Ukraine must meet before it is deemed worthy of an invitation to NATO: to meet these standards, its weapons must be mostly American-made. This is also the reason for all these small and seemingly futile wars, from Serbia to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria: they were demonstrations of the power of American weapons, with the additional goal of using up arms and ammunition so that the Pentagon and the rest of NATO would be forced to re-purchase them. The geopolitical reasons for these military conflicts are merely explanations of intentions in hindsight. For example, between 1964 and 1973, the U.S. dropped more than 2.5 million tons of bombs on Laos during 580,000 sorties, the equivalent of a B-52 bomber's full complement of ammunition every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, for nine years. What was the geopolitical background? No one even remembers if there ever was one. But these bombs were coming to the end of their shelf life, and they had to be used up to justify a new defense order to keep the money flowing in the right direction.
