All I can tell you is that this is like a super-vulcano ready to blow up ANY time.

What I can't tell you though is, how far the #risk has already spread through the #GlobalEconomy.

Have, for instance, European #Banks again been bying up mixed risk #securities from the #US like hell, or has their past experience made them more careful ?

I don't know.

Maby the @EUCommission , @ecb can tell us all more about this ?!

Yesterday some banks suffered from an IT failure that meant many customers were unable to access their bank accounts, or receive their monthly salary...

And of course, given the banks have removed for many the chance to pop over to their local branch to find out what the problem is, this reinforces concerns about the closure of branch banking.

Its cheaper for the banks, but for customers it leaves them exposed to the (all too often) 'IT glitch'!

Human rights and environmental violations throughout Australian supply chains ?
Creating a mandatory human rights due diligence regime for Australian companies

"We analysed the human rights commitments of 25 of the top companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), including some of our largest banks and mining companies."

"We found Australian companies have a long way to go in “knowing and showing” a commitment to respect human rights, suggesting an urgent need for reform...It is clear from our research that many large Australian companies are not operating in line with international standards."

"One response could be for Australia to follow the European Union’s lead and create a mandatory human rights due diligence regime. Australian companies must take proactive steps to comply with international standards. Our findings suggest the government should enact a stronger and broader mandatory human rights due diligence law covering all human rights. "

Digitaltrends: Our reliance on AI-generated news could lead to more bank runs, per new report. “Fake news reports and disinformation campaigns driven by generative AI pose a significant risk to causing bank runs, according to a new study out of the U.K. Per the research firm, Say No to Disinfo, and communications company Fenimore Harper, generative AI systems can easily be leveraged to create […]

The six biggest banks in the US have all quit the global banking industry’s net zero target-setting group, with the inauguration of Trump as expected to bring political backlash against climate action.

I just wonder about peoples sanity. Fires in Califonia, floods across much of the US and the Florida coastline keeps on shrinking - and still they do not get it. These banks have been part of the problem. But it is always someone else.

»In the devastated Gaza Strip, cash is king. But few banks remain standing and Israel’s blocking of bill and coin transfers in and out of the territory also means cash is scarce.
“People have been passing around the same bills for more than a year now,” says a jeweler who people pay to repair paper money. “Of course they’re tattered and fragile.”«

As the ramifications of the court finding in favour of consumers miss-sold car financing ripples though the banking sector we're starting to see how much money might be involved in compensation;

Lloyds have already allowed £450mn in their accounts to cover settlements while Santander have set aside £295mn.

Estimates that the entire compensation could finally be around £30bn nw don't look so off the mark.

A lot of people in banking are hoping the appeal is successful!

"The CFPB economists used a very conservative methodology, so the number is likely higher, but let's stick with that figure for now. The switching costs of changing banks – determining which bank has the best deal for you, then transfering over your account histories, cards, payees, and automated bill payments – are costing everyday Americans more than half a billion dollars, every year.

Now, the CFPB wasn't gathering this data just to make you mad. They wanted to do something about all this money – to find a way to lower switching costs, and, in so doing, transfer all that money from bank shareholders and executives to the American public.

And that's just what they did. A newly finalized Personal Financial Data Rights rule will allow you to authorize third parties – other banks, comparison shopping sites, brokers, anyone who offers you a better deal, or help you find one – to request your account data from your bank. Your bank will be required to provide that data.

I loved this rule when they first proposed it:"

„Israel's decision for a month's waiver extension on co-operation between Israeli & Palestinian banks covered a "very short term" & would create "another looming crisis" by Nov. 30, the United States warned on Thursday.
The remarks came after a spokesman for Israeli Finance Minister B. Smotrich said he would sign the waiver to extend banks' co-operation for another month after the cabinet agreed.“
