As the end of the year draws closer, no clear arrangements about provision of Russian gas to Transnistria are in place. In my latest analysis for ISPI, I outline how important this really is. https://www.ispionline.it/en/publication/transnistria-post-ukraine-invasion-economic-stability-over-security-189566

I argue that authorities in Tiraspol should assume responsibility, and that Chișinău and EU should consider how the status quo may soon become untenable. #Moldova

Gentle reminder that is #Russia at war with Europe, not #Israel.

Russia is currently attacking #Georgia and #Ukraine and also occupying parts of #Moldova, not counting digital attacks against all other countries and the occasional murder on the streets of London or Paris.

Israel on the other hand is at war with terrorist groups sponsored by #Iran, an ally of Russia that would also attack Europe if it could.

Good news from #Moldova !
After an early lead for her Russia-friendly rival, current President @sandumaiamd has now taken the lead with 50.56% of the vote (93% counted), and the trend is up.

BREAKING NEWS 🚨

With 92.2% of the votes counted, Moldovan President Maia Sandu finally overtakes the pro-Russian candidate in the 2nd round of the presidential election.

Looks like she’ll be able to continue leading Moldova on a path to EU membership during a second term in office.

Moldova election results: 98.06% of votes counted. Maia Sandu, 54.47% of votes. Alexandr Stoianoglo, 45.53%.

Today #Moldova is voting for its president in the second round.

Between rounds, local journalists have received death threats by phone with the robotic voice claiming they are speaking on behalf of the current pro-EU president Maia Sandu.

The turnout is higher now than in the first round. Higher even than at this point back in 2020.

Casa Jurnalistului is covering the elections, in Romanian, and giving excellent, much-needed historical context for what's at stake: https://t.me/casa_jurnalistului/5529

Incredible work by investigative journalists in Moldova 🇲🇩

Under cover for months, they have recorded on video how much - and precisely how - money were distributed in exchange of votes, and how the network was built.
