For years, decades even, I haven't really done advent much, having found it hard to get into the spirit of it.

Today I break with tradition, as I got myself an advent calendar for the first time since I was a child, and ye gods am I excited for December now!

The kiddo used my #AdventCalendar animal cards in a single elimination game to determine her favorite. Apparently, it's the pistol shrimp. The potoo was a close second. Now to see if a challenger emerges from the next pockets.

(Also I'm pretty sure she chose shrimp because her dad is Cajun and she sees it as yummy. 😅 )

I don't know who needs to hear this but it is completely OK for you as an adult to buy yourself an advent calendar.

Any kind. Not just makeup or whiskey. You can buy a calendar with Spiderman toys if that's what you want. It's kind of the entire point of being an adult.

It's almost time to begin my yearly quest for a neat advent calendar (because in our house the adults get their own too). Last year, a friend made me one with hand-selected minerals, which was very cool. This year, I'd like something with animals, but I'm open to suggestions 😄 Bonus if I can support an artist with it.
